Overview

The Manager, Flight Control is responsible for the oversight of the OCC Bridge, which includes the Duty Managers, Air Traffic Managers, and Aircraft Routers (Sector Supervisors). The manager ensures daily coordinated decision making within the OCC to effectively manage the operation and minimize impacts to performance, while prioritizing safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and fosters a proactive safety culture and the efficient operation of all flights.
  • Manages all aspects of the OCC Bridge and maintains a close connection to the daily operation.
  • Coordinates with Crew Services, Dispatch, Maintenance Control, Maintenance Planning, and other department leadership on the management of the operation.
  • Proactively identifies strategies and plans for regular and irregular operations; assists in the decision-making process for the management of operations with the Endeavor OCC, ACC, Delta Connection, and Delta OCC.
  • Monitors and makes recommendations to improve airline performance by evaluating delays, cancellations, aircraft utilization, and other operational issues.
  • Partners with the applicable departments to conduct thorough debriefs on the management of irregular operations, to include lessons learned and action items.
  • Manages OCC Duty Manager, Air Traffic Manager, and Aircraft Routers (Sector Supervisors) performance; provides strategy and guidance in their daily operational plans.
  • Establishes and maintains OCC Bridge policies and procedures.
  • Provides updates to the Director, OCC and senior leadership on the status of the operation.
  • Assists in the development of the OCC Bridge staff through coordination with the training department.
  • Conducts daily operations conference call with all stations and operational departments.
  • Collaborates with ACC, Crew Services, Maintenance, Flight Ops, and Inflight to ensure the highest level of teamwork between departments.
  • Ensures emergency response plans and procedures are reviewed quarterly and appropriately implemented, when required.
  • Assists the Director, OCC in the development and administration of departmental budget and staffing requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Will provide supervision and daily guidance for the Duty Managers, Air Traffic Managers, and Aircraft Routers (Sector Supervisors). Will have approximately seven (7) direct reports per shift.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree, or equivalent related operational experience required.
  • Pilot’s License or Aircraft Dispatch license (preferred).
  • Three (3) years of experience in airline dispatch operations or five (5) years in airline operations.
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience leading a team.
  • Knowledge of 14CFR Part 121 operations is required.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience building on employee strengths and teambuilding.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work is typical of an office environment and may involve long periods of sitting.
  • Minimal physical exertion such as: pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and light lifting of boxes, bags, files, and electronic equipment not in excess of 30 lbs.
  • On-call work, outside of normal business hours and including weekends, is required.
  • Some travel may be required for meetings/industry events.
