Overview

The Compliance Specialist supports the team to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and maintains policies in support of both short-term and long-term business goals. This position will proactively scan for updates on compliance related items in the areas of labor law, training, records retention, and anti-drug & alcohol programs to support our team, leaders, and the operational departments we support.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of HR compliance in the areas of policy & procedure clarification, federal, state, and local law compliance, training compliance, and anti-drug & alcohol programs.  
  • Participates in the development of policies, procedures, and training to comply with new Federal, State, and/or Local laws. 
  • Supports anti-drug & alcohol programs and Designated Employer Representative (DER) in random and new hire drug testing, record keeping, and audits. 
  • Collaborates with the Endeavor and Delta LMS Program Administrators to ensure all required compliance courses are accurately assigned and completed within designated timeframes. 
  • Compiles data collection for regulatory reporting – including veterans, EEO-1 and others - through Delta and external vendor partner. 
  • Serves as a Lead Records liaison – supports all Endeavor Records Liaisons and coordinates activities with Delta.  
  • Leads annual records clean up date events for the company.  
  • Oversees Iron Mountain and Advanced Records Management accounts, coordinates distraction schedule for stored files. 
  • Assists in conducting internal compliance audits to ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational standards. 
  • Runs and utilizes reports and talent dashboards that measure HR data and provide predictive analytics for future changes or decisions. 
  • Provides support in responding to or appropriately routing AskHR inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolution. 
  • Supports compliance requirements by maintaining company compliance boards updated. 
  • Provide back-up for team members including DER and HR Assistant. 
  • Participates in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or combination of equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years human resources experience.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations is preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Excel including experience with V-Look up, formulas, pivot tables and charts. 
  • Ability to thrive in a matrixed, fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Skilled in presenting in front of large groups.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all organizational levels in a multicultural environment and build strong, trusted relationships. 
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, identify trends and recommend multiple solutions. 
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Prior exposure to a variety of HR facets including organization development, employee relations, talent acquisition, learning & development, and compensation is a plus.  
  • Project management experience, preferred. 
  • SHRM certification or other HR industry equivalent, preferred. 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Can involve long periods of sitting. Computer work, in a typical office environment, subject to critical deadlines. 
  • Some repetitive motion such as typing.  
  • Minimal physical exertion such as: pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and light lifting of boxes, bags, files, and electronic equipment not in excess of 30 lbs.
  • Some travel may be required (5-10%). 
  • Willingness and ability to provide coverage, as needed, on evenings and weekends.
