Overview

The Designated Station Trainer (DST) will be responsible for all Structured On The Job (SJOT) training, progress and results for the base.  There will be one DST per base, the incumbents will remain as an active technician although not be part of the normal bidding process.  DST’s will receive a premium of $1.50/hr and will retain their current premiums, with the exception of Lead.  The DST will report directly to the base manager with dotted line reporting to Technical Operations Training.

 

When not performing DST roles, normal AMT duties will be performed by the incumbent. 

Responsibilities

In addition to the responsibilities of an Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT), as documented in paragraph E.5 of the General Maintenance Manual (GMM), the Designated Station Trainer responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates new hire technician Structured On the Job Training (SOJT) activities with base management.
  • Ensures SOJT is accomplished within the allotted time.
  • Coordinates with the Manager, Tech Ops Training on the scheduling of required SOJT training.
  • Demonstrates and reviews SOJT tasks with new hire technicians, including Base Module 1 & 2 and required Safety Modules.
  • Maintains the active base required SOJT forms and updates Tech Ops Training when completed.
  • Teaches SOJT content in accordance with Company policies, FAA guidance, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinates with the Manager, Tech Ops Training to assure training program standardization is maintained.
  • Conducts additional SOJT and general training support duties as assigned by Manager, Tech Ops Training.
  • Performs duties of an AMT when training events are not being performed.
  • Maintains all Authorizations and Ratings assigned.

Qualifications

In addition to the responsibilities of an Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT), as documented in paragraph E.5 of the General Maintenance Manual (GMM), the Designated Station Trainer responsibilities include:

  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License

Minimum Position Pay Range

USD $34.50/Hr.

Maximum Position Pay Range

USD $42.70/Hr.
