Overview

The Dispatch Manager on Duty (MOD) provides day-to-day oversight of the Aircraft Dispatchers and Sector Supervisors to ensure flights are operated in accordance with company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily direction and guidance to the Dispatchers, Dispatch Training Specialists, and Sector Supervisors to support the operation.
  • Provide direction with Crew Services and Maintenance to ensure crew legality and aircraft safety.
  • Manage the routing of aircraft in compliance with maintenance planning requirements while keeping the flight schedule intact and running on time.
  • Assist and direct dispatchers with decisions pertaining to cancellations, consolidations, special stops, ferry flight, and extra sections with high regard for safety, regulatory compliance, and economic consideration.
  • Trains staff in accordance with FARs, conduct release audits, and Dispatcher competency checks. May act as training instructor for new hire and recurrent training.
  • Enter and maintain company NOTAMS. Build dispatch records.
  • Maintain and update routes in the Sabre system in coordination with Sr. Manager, Dispatch.
  • Manage irregular flight operations with OCC Duty Manager.
  • Provide operational control on a daily basis; maintain knowledge on all FAA regulations pertaining to the Flight Operations Department and proficiency pertaining to job requirements.
  • Collaborate with ACC, Crew Services, Maintenance, Flight Ops, and Inflight on staffing matters while ensuring the highest level of teamwork between departments.
  • Conduct employee reviews and set performance goals.
  • Build and maintain a collaborative and engaged work group by providing positive, encouraging and informative input / feedback.
  • Ensure phone queues are effectively managed and provide leadership assistance when needed.
  • Keep Dispatch leadership advised on the status of the operation and recovery plan.
  • Ensure all personnel within the organization communicate with pilots, flight attendants, and other departments in a courteous and professional manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Will provide oversight, support, and daily guidance for the Dispatchers and Dispatch Training Specialists.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in aircraft dispatching.
  • One (1) year of experience providing work direction in a leader role, including motivating and mentoring employees.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Part 121 FARs.    
  • FAA Dispatch license (requires a minimum age of 23).
  • Reliable and self-motivated.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and able to work with all levels of an organization.
  • PC proficient in Microsoft Office software, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work is typical of an office environment and may involve long periods of sitting.
  • Minimal physical exertion such as: pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and light lifting of boxes, bags, files, and electronic equipment not in excess of 30 lbs.
  • On-call work, outside of normal business hours and including weekends, is required.
  • Some travel may be required for meetings/industry events.

USD $75,700.00/Yr.

Maximum Position Pay Range

USD $90,800.00/Yr.
